In his A/W 1994 collection, Martin Margiela introduced a collection called “Clothing reproduced from a doll’s wardrobe.” This collection featured doll-sized garments blown up to human size, maintaining the disproportion of the doll’s body, the garments, and their closures. Margiela’s obsession with doll’s clothing began in his childhood, when he sewed clothing for his dolls with his grandmother.
